Training Opportunities

Volunteer training opportunities are offered throughout the year. The volunteer training session is about 1 hour in duration and prepares volunteers for a variety of Family Promise volunteer opportunities. It also introduces volunteers to the many programs and services of Family Promise of Lawrence.

Upcoming Volunteer Training Sessions:

We offer volunteer training at least monthly at the Family Promise of Lawrence Day Center and other locations and post the schedule on this page.  Contact us if you would like to participate, if have questions or if you would like to schedule a special training session for your church or group.

Upcoming Specific Training Sessions:

Monday June 5th – at the Day Center 905 Tennessee Street 6-7 pm

Saturday June 10th – at Plymouth UCC – 925 Vermont St in the Mayflower room 10-11 am

 

Other topic training scheduled:

Domestic Violence Awareness as a Volunteer  June 8th, 7-8pm First Baptist Church 1330 Kasold Dr.  This training is led by Julia Gilmore Gaughan, Willow Domestic Violence Center and FPL Coordinator.

Trauma Informed Care Understanding for Volunteers – June 12th,  7-9pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 New Hampshire St.  This training is led by Toni Detherage, Family Centered Therapy & Provider Supports.  Toni is a regular trainer for both volunteers, staff, guests and graduates of FPL.
