KU All-American Wayne Simien and Cindy Self, wife of KU coach Bill Self, are once again the co-chairs of the Family Promise Golf Tournament and Auction Party.  These very successful events have raised $120,000 over the past three years to help transform the lives of homeless children and their families.  The Auction Party at Maceli’s Sunday evening September9th will feature hot food and complimentary wine and beer and soft drinks.  Bidders will vie for both silent and live auction items ranging in value from $25 gift certificates to several thousand dollars for a week’s vacation in a private ocean-side condo in Florida.  Themed gift baskets created by Family Promise congregations will be popular items either for personal use or to donate to our guest families.

Four-person teams will compete in two flights for a variety of individual and team prizes at Alvamar Country Club the next afternoon in a scramble format.  Registration fees include lunch, golf and cart, dinner and beverages both on and off the course, plus two admissions to the Auction Party.  Special rules ensure that all players will finish their rounds in 4 ½ hours.  Registration starts at noon, box lunches follow, shotgun start at 1PM, a barbeque buffet dinner with awards at 5:30.

Non-golfers can purchase tickets to the Auction Party separately.  Registration for both events will be available on this website, or you can call Joe Reitz at 785-331-5024.  We welcome donations of items or services for the Auction Party.  Popular donated items have included jewelry and art works, catered and home-cooked meals, tickets to sporting events and other entertainment, gardening and yard work, and private performances by local musicians.
