This week will be one of the most exciting weeks  we can have in Family Promise.  Two of the current families are moving on from the program.

One Mom and her baby have decided to move in with family in Arkansas.  While in the program, Mom was able to initiate completion of her high school diploma and will be finishing it on line in Arkansas when she moves next week.

One Dad and his 5 kids are moving into their new home and we are excited because it is only a couple of blocks away from the day center!

One Mom, Dad and their 5 girls are moving out of our transitional house and into their own home this weekend.

Such good news, and exactly the reason we exist – to help families get on some stable ground and move out of a situation of homelessness and into a permanent housing situation.  What happens along the way is an amazing journey with the families we serve.

There are many of you who are reading this note, who are both excited and also a bit sad, because you were looking forward to holding the precious curly haired baby or visiting with the 5  kids when they came through the next rotation.  Truth be told, we have the same feelings here on staff as well.  When walking alongside people who are going through difficult situations, a relationship develops that brings an intimacy and understanding and trust is built in a way not often experienced in our busy, hurried world.  It is through the pain and difficult periods in life that walls seem to more easily be dismantled and lives are authentically shared.  Certainly this is also often when the intimacy of God steps in dramatically and we can see his love in action and experience his care when life has lost its color.

This is a time in Family Promise of celebration of all the hard work, and tenacity of the parents, of the restored hope and new relationships.  A journey shared and now joy overflowing!!!!

…we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character, and character, hope.  And hope does not disappoint us because God has poured his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit whom he has given… Rom 5:4-5
