What Is a Call to Community?

Call to Community (C2C) is a Family Promise of Lawrence initiative designed to establish supportive relationships with individuals and families in current FPL programming (Rotation, P515 and Temporary Housing) providing a link to the larger community. Call to Community establishes committed and caring relationships between C2C Partners, who are members of our existing network of volunteers, and families who are current guests in the Family Promise programs.

And What Is the Goal?

C2C partnerships are meant to grow in the natural way of good friendships, improving mental, emotional, spiritual and physical well being for both Community Partners and Family Partners.

How Is This Going to Happen?

  • Volunteers are invited to apply to become Community Partners.
  • At intake, a C2C partnership is assigned with each new family enrolled in either the Rotation or P515. C2C partners meet the new family within the first 48–72 hours of intake.

How Long Will a Partnership Last?

The formal term of a C2C Partnership is for as long as a family is enrolled in active programming at FPL which includes, Rotation, P515 and Temporary Housing. The minimum time commitment is for 2 meetings per month and the average duration in one of our intake programs is about 2–3 months.  If a family then moves from the intake program into the Temporary Housing program, the time commitment would be extended to 2 times per month for about 6-9 months while the guest family is enrolled in the Temporary Housing program.
