Savings Match Program

In 2018 Family Promise of Lawrence launched the Savings Match Program as a new offering with the goal of Increased financial stability for families enrolled in FPL programming once they graduate into permanent housing.

How Does the Savings Match Program Work?

Savings Match is an additional benefit to the hard working families in the FPL programs, to encourage savings growth.  Upon enrollment in either of our intake programs, Rotation or P515, families are required to find, or maintain employment and to save 70% of their income, after paying bills that would keep them from being rehoused.    Case managers routinely help families evaluate spending patterns and any obstacles to savings goals.  Here’s how the program is implemented:

  • Families must qualify for the program by being in good standing with the FPL participation agreements upon graduation, must be moving into permanent housing, and must have shown a long term commitment to growing savings, through monthly savings account verification
  • Families must commit to continued Case Management through our Graduate Supports Program for at least a 6-month period
  • Upon graduation from any of our active programs, Rotation, P515, or Temporary Housing, families may be eligible to receive matching funds in their savings account of up to $1000 over a 6-month period

How Can You Help?

Please consider supporting the Savings Match Program by one or several of the options below:

  • Financially support the program with a designated gift to FPL to support the Savings Match.  Financial gifts to this program are matched 1:1 by a generous anonymous donor.  So this is a great time for your gift to have double the impact!
  • Tell your friends about this program – especially your friends that would be interested in helping families along with their savings goals.  Help us get the word out and directly support a family move from homelessness to sustainability.
  • Participate in one of our Life Skills courses with graduates of the FPL programs by facilitating a class, providing and sharing dinner before class, or helping with childcare.  Learn more about Life Skills Classes here.
  • Organize an event to learn about Family Promise Programs through your congregation, business, civic organization, small group or home with friends and family and invite us in to talk about local family homelessness and the FPL response from prevention through crisis and into sustainability!
