In a typical year, over 12,000 hours of service are donated by our volunteers. There are so many ways to serve at Family Promise. If you have thought about joining the hundreds of volunteers helping Family Promise meet its mission, we would LOVE to hear from you! We are always looking for volunteers to support families through a wide range of roles—from building maintenance, cleaning, gardening, and landscaping to grant writing, data entry, interior decorating, administrative support, child care and more. In addition to individual opportunities, we welcome group service projects!

Become a Host and Support Organization
If you are part of a faith-based group, a club, a civic organization, or have several kind hearted friends who want to help families and children, we have the perfect volunteer opportunities for your group.
During their dedicated time of service (5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.), volunteers prepare a meal, host dinner, eat with the families, provide a supportive role and participate in fun family friendly activities at the Mount Hope shelter
Provide a Meal and Spend Time with Families at Mount Hope
Volunteers are needed to provide meals and spend time with families at Mount Hope. Volunteers must complete a one-time virtual training and background check.
Sponsor a Work Day or Day of Service
Sponsoring a work day is a great way to introduce your group to Family Promise. Groups are involved in a variety of projects with a variety of skill levels. Youth groups, Sunday school classes, university groups, and congregations help with cleaning, building, organizing, landscaping, and many other tasks at the Day Center and transitional houses. Work days can be arranged to fit most schedules and time constraints.
Spend Time with Guests
Spend time with our guests of all ages at the Day Center. Help young guests with homework or activities. Help with enrichment activities like arts and crafts. Participate in a Life Skills dinner and class. Help plan graduate program fun activities! We would love to find a way for you to use your gifts at Family Promise of Lawrence.
Donate Wish List Items
The Wish List consists of items that our guests need. Little ones need diapers, Moms need shampoo. Everyone needs toothpaste. Follow this link to see our current wish list and scroll down.
Office Volunteers
Office volunteers help with filing, data entry, mailings, and organizing our Day Center. Most office volunteers serve for a few hours each week at and have a chance to help with the administrative side of Family Promise while building great relationships with the guests.
