Brenda came to Family Promise 10 years ago from a varied background of years of
ministry in Russia and the health care field here in Lawrence. Though these
experiences seem unrelated, both have helped to prepare her in multiple ways for the
incredible adventure that is Family Promise.
One of the remarkable things Brenda finds about Family Promise is the way community
members from all across Douglas County work together to provide hospitality, care and
support for families in our community who are in a housing crisis.
Throughout her time with Family Promise, Brenda’s life has been changed by the
amazing people who rotate through the program–volunteers, guests, board members,
fellow staff. Each person contributes a few tiles to the mosaic that makes Family
Promise a beautiful picture of hope, redemption, relationships. Brenda is proud and
humbled to be a part of this mosaic.
To relax during her off hours, Brenda finds joy in being outdoors and camping with her
daughter, reading all kinds of books, baking and cooking.
