Breaking Ground at 200 Mt. Hope Court: A New Chapter for Family Promise of Lawrence

We had a wonderful day celebrating Family Promise of Lawrence and breaking ground at 200 Mt. Hope Court. It was truly a special afternoon for the past, present, and future of FPL.

Surrounded by members of our community, the groundbreaking event marked the beginning of a new chapter in our mission to provide a safe shelter for children and families in Douglas County. This milestone is not just about a new building; it’s about creating a haven where families can find stability, support, and hope.

The excitement and joy in the air were palpable as we gathered to commemorate this significant step forward. Community leaders, volunteers, and supporters came together to celebrate the impact that Family Promise of Lawrence has had over the years and to look ahead to the future possibilities that 200 Mt. Hope Court will bring.

This project is incredibly special to us. The new shelter at Mt. Hope Court will be a place where families can rebuild their lives, gain stability, and find the support they need to thrive. It embodies our commitment to providing not just shelter, but also the resources and community that families need to succeed.

We are immensely grateful for the overwhelming support we have received so far. Your generosity and commitment to our mission have made this groundbreaking possible. However, as we look forward to opening the doors of Mt. Hope Court, we still have work to do. The building will need refurbishing to become the warm, welcoming space that our families deserve.

To achieve this, we are continuing our Give Hope Campaign. Your donations will help us transform 200 Mt. Hope Court into a fully functional, safe, and supportive environment for those in need. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to making this vision a reality.

How do you participate with Family Promise throughout the year? Besides the monetary donations while sponsoring the 5K in 2017, 2018 and now 2022, our mortgage loan originator, Jessica Wollesen, has been connected in a couple ways to Family Promise of Lawrence for the past 5 years, as well.  Whether it is fundraising for the Lawrence Board of Realtors Community Foundation that often benefits Family Promise or participating in Project 913, her fundraising work has be ongoing.
