Vanecia Hazel is the Director of Family Services at Family Promise of Lawrence. In 2008, she graduated with her Bachelors in Pre – Law and in 2011 gained her Master of Social Work. Her background is in family and child welfare, to which she has gained knowledge that has solidified her passion for empowering and impacting those in need.
Vanecia discovered Family Promise through her church, volunteering to provide food support for the Rotation program. Her interests grew for the programs that Family Promise of Lawrence offered to the families of the Douglas County community, showing her how volunteers and churches worked together to share resources for those in need. The more she learned about Family Promise and the engagement provided to families, the more she wanted to be a part of that journey of giving back. Vanecia is overjoyed to be able to work at Family Promise to assist in advocating for families and providing them an opportunity to be empowered to make confident life decisions.
